Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti G1 Gaming 6GB Overclocking Results

Given that we had to download the Gigabyte OC Guru II software to activate the card's OC Mode, we continued to use it for overclocking. It's not as slick or well presented as EVGA Precision X or MSI Afterburner, but it has all the core functions you need to overclock your GPU.

After a fair number of trial and error runs, we settled on a bench-stable overclock of 1,300MHz base, which meant the boost clock was reported as 1,389MHz. In reality though, the GTX 980 Ti G1 Gaming was hovering around 1,429MHz under sustained load. This is a 110MHz overclock, or 9 percent, and puts the base clock at a massive 30 percent higher than a reference GTX 980 Ti.

The memory performed very well too, with the SK Hynix chips happy to run without crashing or artifacting all the way to 2.05GHz, or 8.2GHz effective. This is a hefty 17 percent overclock, and the highest we've seen on a GTX 980 Ti card.
